Conservative Social Network Bookmarking

Those of you who frequent my blog may have noticed a few new buttons floating around which allow you to share any of my posts with your friends through any number of social networking media. I've added these links to my site because I think a well-written word is wasted if no one ever reads it.

What motivated this course of action?

I recently saw a thread in a republican Facebook group forum, where a gentleman was looking for conservative followers on Twitter. Not surprisingly, the response from most on the forum was, "What's Twitter?"

I'm here to tell you folks, the online social networking train has left the station, and many conservatives are still packing their luggage. There are dozens of social networking sites (Facebook, Myspace, Technorati and Twitter being perhaps the most mainstream) and they are being saturated by liberals. We're forfeiting an opinion battle ground here because we're unwilling to come to the game!

Social network bookmarking is especially important to our cause because it allows conservatives to spread intelligent and important information instantly - which can help counteract the markedly left-lean of the mainstream news media.

There are dozens of instances where Twitter disseminated news faster than the main stream media could. These networks spread information like a virus (hence the term "going viral") - one friend tells a dozen of his friends, who tell a dozen of their friends, who tell a dozen of their friends until, all of a sudden, you have an instantly informed community.

Best of all, we're in control of the content. We decide what's important.

Sounds nice, right?

The catch is, it requires willing and intentional participation, and from our relative unwillingness to help get out the vote on Election Day to our silence in the face of public Bush-bashing, conservatives are being bullied out of popular culture. I see the same trend forming in social networking media.

The wonderful thing about social network bookmarking is that it allows each of us the opportunity to propagate for and help disseminate conservative news with no real personal inconvenience. If we're going to win the war of words and ideas, we have to arm ourselves with the proper information.

I encourage each of you, if you haven't already, to create digg, Technorati and Twitter accounts. Most every news and reputable blog site will provide a digg and/or technorati button at the end of every article they post. All you have to do is click the "digg" button and you'll help increase the visibility of an article you like. It literally takes a second. Technorati works in a similar fashion, as do many other bookmarking services. Twitter is slightly different in that you can post a brief update and link to a story you value, and everyone that's following you will see it. Again, most sites provide a one-click "tweet" option at the end of their articles to make the process as effortless as possible.

So, consider this my official appeal to you conservatives out there who think you're not that tech savvy and can't help with online initiatives. If you're savvy enough to get to and read this post, you are savvy enough to sign up for some of these social networking services. They are free, user-friendly and once you sign up, you'll wonder why you never thought of doing it sooner.

I don't care what social-network service you choose, but I implore all of you to pick one and help spread the popularity of conservative ideas. There are thousands of praise-worthy blog posts and news articles out there. We are conspicuous by our absence on these networking sites.

Sign up for a social networking service and start helping spread conservative ideas. Post your user name/ link to any social networks here if you would like to network with fellow conservatives who read this blog.

Let me conclude by saying that your social network support of this blog would be greatly appreciated.

I joined up! I'm amazed at the amount of pertinent information out there that the mainstream "liberal" media bypasses. Twitter is quickly becoming an addiction for me =( I also started a small blog, though it won't be as in-depth as this one, but you can still take a look at
